ATEX & Hazardous-Area Expertise
Technical expertise and proven CompEX competence for working in ATEX classified areas.
Check security.
Reduce risk in ATEX environments.
Cetec Energy provides technical advice, documentation and supervision in facilities with potentially explosive atmospheres. The services include establishing and updating ATEX classification as well as technical review and verification of installations in zoned areas.
The work is carried out with in-depth knowledge of electrical installations in process plants and with a focus on the actual execution of the installation - not just the document basis.
Classification and technical structure of hazardous areas
Correct zone classification and structured ATEX documentation is a prerequisite for safe operation in petrochemical plants and other process environments.
Cetec Energy supports:
- Creating and updating zone classification
- Review of existing ATEX documentation
- Assessment of installation practices in relation to classification
- Identifying discrepancies between documentation and actual execution
- Structuring ATEX governance in your organisation
Our efforts are based on the specific structure and history of the installation, including older panels and components where changes over time can affect the classification.
Technical verification and advice on equipment in Ex installations
ATEX environments require precise execution and correct equipment selection. Cetec Energy carries out both technical verification of ATEX environments as well as advice on and inspection of proper equipment in ATEX zones.
The review is conducted by experienced technicians and supervisors, with CompEx training and extensive knowledge of practical conditions and risk factors. At Cetec Energy, we focus on the actual condition of the installation and identify issues that may affect safety and compliance.
- Correct labelling and equipment selection according to zone
- Enclosure grades, seals and cable entries
- Protection principles and installation details
- Compliance with relevant standards
We regularly find that in some installations, the ATEX documentation is updated, while the installation has changed over time.
In this case, compliance only applies on paper - not in the real world where employees need to be able to go to work safely.
Here, our work starts with the actual execution - panels, components and classification - and then ensures that documentation and reality match.
This gives our customers a technically sound basis for both operations and further decisions.

Yaw Ring repair
The challenge
Damaged teeth on a slewing ring can quickly put a wind turbine out of action. Even minor damage leads to misalignment, increased stress on the drive system and, in the worst case, a complete shutdown. The common solution is to replace the entire slewing ring - a process that requires the use of a crane, longer downtime and significant spare parts costs.
The alternative
At Cetec Energy, we approach the problem differently. Our teams perform precision repairs up in the tower. With a specialised and proven swing ring repair procedure, the welding work is done up in the tower and the damaged teeth are rebuilt and restored without dismantling the nacelle.
The result
This method brings the workshop into the wind turbine. It's faster, far more cost-effective and extends the life of critical components. For operators, this means reduced downtime, controlled costs and turbines that are back in production within days - not weeks.
Trusted specialists in the energy sector
This expertise is combined with practical experience from electrical installations in operation, ensuring correct execution and documentation in accordance with applicable requirements.
Proven safety and regulatory compliance
ATEX work requires consistency between classification, installation and documentation. The result is a structured and technically sound approach to hazardous areas that reduces risk and supports stable operation.
Cetec Energy ensures that:
- Classification and installation match
- Changes are registered and documented correctly
- Deviations are identified and handled systematically
- The organisation has an updated and usable documentation base
