Structural integrity inspection
PAUT inspection of circumferential welds on ageing wind turbine. Assessing wear patterns and localising areas requiring repair and ensuring continued safe operation.
Preparation:
Definition of inspection scope based on turbine design and critical areas. Probe selection, equipment calibration and surface preparation by cleaning and applying coupling agent.
Effectiveness
Multiple ultrasound beams are electronically guided through the material, creating high-resolution cross-sectional images.
Traceable documentation
Inspectors analyse the images in real-time to identify defects, cracks, corrosion or lack of fusion. Data is recorded for documentation and future comparison.
